Diabetes is a major public health challenge. Diabetes reduces the life expectancy of people with type 1 by about 15 years and type 2 by about 10 years. In 2022 there were 95,000 people aged 17 years and over who had been diagnosed with diabetes in Kent. This represents 7.2% of the population in this age group.
