Accidents account for 13% of emergency hospital admissions and 5% of total hospital admissions nationally. Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for people under the age of 39.

A number of organisations produce statistics relating to accidents, both at national and local level.

Office for National Statistics (ONS) provide mortality statistics, which include mortality from accidents.
The National General Practice Profiles present a range of practice and CCG-level (Clinical Commissioning Group) data relating to hospital admissions and A&E attendances.
The Public Health England Health Profiles and Child Health Profiles provide snapshot overviews of health for local areas, and include some data on hospital admissions caused by injuries, hip fractures and road traffic accidents.
The Public Health Outcomes Framework also provides data on a range of key indicators
